| Design of a new 3600 ft2, 4 bedroom family home and eco-lodge with sea views, together with the complete site layout for intensive farming on 6 acres in Co. Waterford. Traditional style of architecture and layout was the key element of the design brief. Sustainability in the build approach and thorough use of renewable energy sources needed to compliment the traditional design style. Single room width building in a farm-house-extension-layout was proposed. An air-to-water heat pump, solar panels and heat recovery ventilation are proposed renewable energy sources. External walls to be constructed of hemp to maximise sustainability and natural insulative properties as well as giving a very tactile quality to the home. Reed beds will filter sewage. | |
